A British air-dropped bomb from World War Two (WWII) was found on Medmerry Beach at Selsey, West Sussex. It is not rare for the Coastguard to be called to this particular stretch of coastline as a result of a suspect find. As the location of a former bombing range, there is a high potential for Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) to be present. Coastal erosion has increased the likelihood of UXO being exposed on the beach in recent years.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called and they declared the bomb safe to remove, without the need for a controlled explosion.
