Controlled Explosion After Unexploded Shell Found on Shanklin Beach

A controlled explosion has taken place after the discovery of an unexploded shell at Shanklin Beach on the Isle of Wight.

Ventnor Coastguard evacuated local premises and set up an exclusion zone whilst an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team made its way to the scene.  They carried out the controlled explosion in situ.
