Controlled Explosion as WWII German UXB Found in Bordon

A suspected German Unexploded Bomb (UXB) from World War Two (WWII) has been detonated in a controlled explosion in Bordon, Hampshire. Found by construction workers, the device prompted the establishment of a 200m safety cordon as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called in.

The EOD team were required to important sand for blast mitigation, lengthening the operation. Reports indicate that several properties were evacuated and the gas supply cut off prior to the detonation.

The Bordon area has long been used for military accommodation and training and was a designated Luftwaffe target during WWII.
