Controlled Explosion for Epping Forest Hand Grenades

Capture-4-300x249A box of 6No. WWII hand grenades has been destroyed in a controlled explosion undertaken by an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team at a farm in North Weald. The farmland was selected as a convenient place to dispose of the live items after they were discovered in Epping Forest.

The grenades were found above ground and are thought to have been dumped rather than been left over from past military training activities, which are known to have taken place in Epping Forest.
