A controlled explosion was carried out after the discovery of an unexploded hand grenade at a residential development site in Kirby Cross, Essex.
The grenade was found during excavation works and the Police brought in an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to deal with the device.
A 50m safety cordon was put in place and the EOD team safely detonated the grenade to allow building work to continue.
