An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from the Royal Navy has undertaken two controlled explosions at Medmerry Beach near Selsey after the discovery of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO).
The location of a WWII bombing range, the beach is the scene of regular UXO finds and has led to heightened awareness among the public about the importance of reporting suspect finds.
In unison with the Coastguard, the EOD team undertook a reconnaissance of the beach after a WWII-era shell was found, eventually identifying several other UXO items for disposal.
