A man has come across a WWII hand grenade after accidentally hitting the item with his rake whilstÀšÃ‚ gardening at his house in Liss Forest, Hampshire.
Liss ForestÀšÃ‚ is close to Longmoor Camp and was used extensively by the military for training during WWII; a number of temporary ammunition storage facilities were also built there in the run-up to D-Day in 1944.
Twenty homes were evacuated in aÀšÃ‚ precautionary move by the local police before an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit arrived to dispose of the item.
