A hand grenade was found at a recycling centre in Netley near Southampton. A security cordon was put in place so that an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team could attend and assess the device. The EOD team later removed the grenade to undertake a controlled explosion elsewhere.
Items of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) are often found in recycling and waste streams as citizens seek to rid themselves of unwanted souvenirs.
