Hand Grenade Found Near Norwich – Controlled Explosion Takes Place

A controlled explosion of a suspected WWII hand grenade has taken place near Norwich after being found in a local river.  The grenade, found in the Helledson area, was destroyed by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from the Royal Logistics Corps.

The grenade had been pulled out of the River Wensum by a magnet fisherman, who subsequently took the device home before informing the Police.  The EOD team took the grenade back to an open area near the river for destruction.
