Hand Grenade Found at Nechells Recycling Centre

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called to Trevor Street in Nechells, Birmingham, after a suspected live hand grenade was found in a consignment sent to a metal recycling plant. Such occurrences are not infrequent, with recycling centres occasionally turning up items of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) disposed of in this careless manner.

A security cordon was put in place as the EOD team assessed the device prior to its removal.
