An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called in after a member of the public found a WWII-era hand grenade on the Ashridge Estate near Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire.

After Police put in place a safety cordon, the EOD team was mobilised and decided to carry out a controlled explosion of the grenade.

The Ashridge Estate – now in the hands of the National Trust – was used during both WWI and WWII to billet and train troops.
