An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team carried out a controlled explosion after a hand grenade was found on farmland at Lower Apperley in rural Gloucestershire.
The age of the device is not known, although it was deemed to be enough of a hazard that it needed to be destroyed safely in situ.
