Hand Grenade Found on Whitstable Building Site

A suspected WWII-era hand grenade has been found during building works in Whitstable, Kent.  Reports suggest that on discovering the device, a panicked contractor flung the grenade onto an adjacent railway track not far from the local station.

Police put in place a security cordon around the station until an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team could arrive to remove the offending item.
