Home Guard Cache Found Under Malton Driveway
Workers laying a new driveway in Malton, North Yorkshire got a nasty surprise when they uncovered 2No. suspected mortar bombs and several bullets. Thought to be relics from an old Home Guard centre, the discovery of the items forced Police to mobilise an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
One of the mortars is understood to have been empty, with the other removed and disposed of as a precautionary measure.
Not the first – nor surely the last – time that Dad’s Army has struck in the most unexpected of locations!
