An evacuation cordon was put in place at Fisherton Street, Salisbury after a second-hand furniture dealer found a live 1kg German incendiary bomb in his shop. The device had been salvaged as part of a house clearance, unbeknownst to the dealer.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from the Royal Logistics Corps (RLC) examined the device and, whilst concluding that the main initiator had been removed, took it away for safe destruction.
Another example of souvenir hunters underestimating the potential dangers inherent with historic ordnance.
