The military was called in after a suspected World War Two shell was found at the Tata Steel factory in Port Talbot. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team arrived and declared the bomb alert, before removing it for disposal.
During WWII, the Tata factory was part of the Port Talbot Steelworks, which was engaged in the manufacture of shell casings. It is possible that this find is a legacy of this activity. Whilst no explosives filling tool place at the works, the discovery of such shells should always be treated with caution until declared inert.
