Millennium Bridge Closed by WWII UXO

The Millennium Bridge was temporarily closed after a suspected WWII shell washed up on the Southbank. A large Police cordon was put in place before an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team arrived to remove the device.

UXO is still commonly washed up along the shoreline of the River Thames, particularly in London, where during WWII numerous items – ranging from German high explosive bombs to British artillery shells – fell in its waters.
