A controlled explosion was undertaken after more than 100No. ordnance-related items were washed ashore at a beach north of Millom in Cumbria. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from Catterick destroyed those items that were live, removing inert devices for disposal elsewhere.
Duddon Sands, to the northeast of Millom, was used as a bombing range during World War Two (WWII) which may explain the finds.
