The Southend Coastguard was busy over the weekend, finding 3No. suspected items of ordnance that required the attention of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team. 2No. of the items were removed and 1No. was destroyed in a controlled explosion.
The live shell was found below the high water mark on Chalkwell Beach and was detonated in situ by the Royal Logistics Corps (RLC).
