Mortar Found at Braunton Burrows Beach

A father and son walking along the beach at Braunton Burrows in Devon came across a suspected WWII-era mortar.  After alerting the Police, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was mobilised and after inspection they removed the device for safe destruction.

Braunton Burrows was used by the US Army during WWII as an assault training centre, meaning that such finds are always a possibility in the area.
