Mortar Found in River Itchen in Southampton

A WWII-era mortar was found in the River Itchen at Riverside Park in the Bitterne Park area of Southampton.  A magnet fisherman inadvertently dragged the device out of the river and called the Police, who put in place a safety cordon.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team arrived and removed the device for safe disposal.
