A suspected unexploded mortar shell found in Stanmer Park in Brighton was found to be empty on closer inspection.
The device was found by a member of the public, with the Police cordoning off a corner of the park prior to the arrival of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
The EOD team confirmed that the mortar was empty and removed it for safe disposal.
