Rochester Station was closed for more than three hours after the discovery of a suspected ‘wartime bomb’. Although the trains kept running through the station, no stops were made and passengers were evacuated by Police.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended and confirmed that the device was a naval shell. The EOD team rendered the shell safe before removing it for safe disposal.
