Newtownards UXB Detonated in Controlled Explosion

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has confirmed that a German Unexploded Bomb (UXB) has been detonated during a controlled explosion in Newtownards, County Down.

The device was detonated at approximately 15.38pm, 20th August, by members of the Army’s 321 EOD & Search Squadron.

The 500kg UXB was discovered at a building site in Rivenwood on Friday 16th August.  400 homes were evacuated prior to the operation.
