An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team carried out a controlled explosion after a family found a phosphorus-filled mortar on the beach near Folkestone.
The family reported evidence of smoke emitting from the mortar which had been washed up by the tide. They called the Police, who mobilised the EOD team to assess the device and make it safe.
