Practice Bomb Found on Farmland in Lincolnshire

A practice bomb was discovered by a metal detectorist on a farm at Alkborough in north Lincolnshire.  Police were called to secure the area before an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team arrived and confirmed that the bomb had no explosive content and was removed.

The nearby Alkborough Flats were used as a Royal Air Force (RAF) bombing range during World War Two (WWII) which makes the find an unsurprising one.
