ZeticaUXO and its Sitesafe Alliance partner Ramora UK have successfully disposed of a live, 2-inch high explosive mortar found at a planned residential development in Cambridgeshire.
The mortar was destroyed in a purpose-built Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) facility, established on site to dispose of the regular UXO finds. It was recently used to dispose of a live anti-tank mine and previously 3No. 500lb British bombs which were discovered in February.
The advantage of the facility is that it negates the need for any significant evacuation zone when disposing of UXO, meaning there is no disruption to the site occupiers or local community.
