A controlled explosion was carried out on the beach at Mundesley, Norfolk after the discovery of a suspected 2-inch smoke mortar. It is unclear whether the mortar had been washed up or simply exposed through sand movement.
After the Coastguard put in place a security cordon around the device, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team arrived and destroyed it in situ.
