A beach in South Shields was temporarily closed after the discovery of suspected Unexploded Ordnance (UXO). The nature of the UXO was not disclosed but it prompted the mobilisation of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
The EOD team confirmed that the device provided no harm and removed it for safe disposal.
