Suspected 250kg Bomb Found in Formby Destroyed in Controlled Explosion
As attention was turned by a 1,000kg Unexploded Bomb (UXB) found in Exeter, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) were busy dealing with another German bomb in Formby near Liverpool.
The device, reported to be a 250kg bomb, was exposed on the shoreline of the Merseyside town. Police put in place security cordons whilst a Royal Navy EOD team attended.
With the assistance of the Coastguard, the EOD team moved the device out to sea where a controlled explosion was undertaken.
