An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team removed a suspected Anti-Aircraft (AA) shell from a building site in Gloucester. The device was found near a supermarket car park, forcing its temporary closure, along with several roads.
AA shells were fired in their thousands during World War Two (WWII). Despite the occasional success, they became notorious for causing more damage to British properties than to German aircraft.
