Anti-Tank Mines Found in Westhampnett Garden

18No. WWII anti-tank mines were found by a workman digging in the back garden of a house in Westhampnett, West Sussex.  Police put in place a 200m safety cordon whilst an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team travelled to the scene.

Road closures were kept in place for a day as the EOD team removed the items to a nearby field.

Due to their high explosive content, the mines were blown up individually in controlled explosions, a 30 minute gap being left between each detonation.
