Suspected Chemical-Filled Mortars Found Near Portsmouth

Suspected chemical-filled mortar rounds were removed from Farlington Marshes near Portsmouth after being discovered by a metal detector. The marshes, used as a munitions disposal area during World War Two, have been subject to previous Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) finds.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team safely removed the mortars and sent them to Porton Down for analysis and disposal.
