Suspected Dummy Mine Found on Cornish Beach

A controlled explosion was carried out at Saltstone in Cornwall after a suspected ‘dummy mine’ was found by a member of the public. Bude Coastguard informed the Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team which arrived to assess the device.

Although considered inert, the device was embedded under several large rocks and as a precaution a large safety cordon was put in place prior to a controlled detonation taking place.
