Suspected Mortar Found Near Midhurst

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team has carried out a controlled explosion after the discovery of a suspected mortar at Cocking near Midhurst, West Sussex.  The mortar was found in woodland by a member of the public.

Large parts of the South Downs were requisitioned by the military for training during WWII and it is possible that this find relates to such activities.
