There were major road closures in Cardiff a suspected ‘unexploded bomb’ from World War Two (WWII) was found in a scrapyard. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was tasked to deal with the device and the roads have since re-opened.
Cardiff and the South Wales region in general was a major centre for the demilitarisation of unused ordnance post-WWII for use in local smelting works. Sometimes the process was incomplete and UXO could end up in metal recycling streams.
