Suspected Unexploded Shell Found at Totnes Recycling Centre

The evacuation of an industrial estate in Totnes occurred after the discovery of a suspected unexploded shell at a recycling centre. A 100m safety cordon was put in place whilst an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from Plymouth arrived to assess the item, which they removed for safe disposal.

It is suspected that the shell was a souvenir brought for recycling by its owner which subsequently caused some alarm on discovery, a reminder that safe disposal of any potential UXO items (inert or otherwise) is paramount.
