Roads were closed and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team called after suspected World War Two (WWII) ordnance was found at Fitzalan Street in Lambeth.
The disruption was not prolonged and the device was able to be removed from the scene.
It follows a far more problematic incident at Kingston University a couple of weeks ago.
