Suspected WWI Shell Found on Bradford Building Site

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team carried out a controlled explosion on an item found on a building site in Baildon near Bradford.

The suspected 6-pound shell, thought to date from WWI, was uncovered during excavation work for a housing development. A safety cordon was put in place by the Police whilst the EOD team was mobilised. The item was subsequently moved to an open area and destroyed in a controlled explosion.
