A suspected WWII hand grenade was found by a member of the public on the Durgan beach in Cornwall. The Police were informed and they duly notified the Royal Navy’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team. The EOD team later removed the device.
The area surrounding Durgan, along the River Helford, was extensively used by the American Army in the build-up to D-Day in 1944.
