A metal detectorist found an unexploded mortar during a sweep of the beach at Minnis Bay in Thanet, Kent. Police officers were called to the scene and they established a security cordon pending the arrival of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
The EOD team undertook a controlled explosion to destroy the device in situ.
