An unexploded shell that washed up on the beach at Warsash near Southampton has been destroyed in a controlled explosion by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
The shell, thought to date to WWII or the 1950s, was found by a member of the public on the shoreline, leading to the area being closed off by the Coastguard.
The EOD team arrived and destroyed the device in situ.
