Unexploded Shell Found at Lancashire Aircraft Crash Site

A suspected unexploded shell has been found at the site of a WWII aircraft crash in Banks, West Lancashire. The aircraft was being excavated in an area of marshland when the device was discovered.

A safety cordon was put in place around local roads so that an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team could attend the scene and dispose of the device appropriately.
