Unexploded Shell Found Near Widnes

bpomb-300x200 An unexploded wartime artillery shell was found during road works at a site to the west of Widnes, Merseyside. Construction workers unearthed the device during excavations near the Speke Road junction of the Knowsley Expressway.

A temporary closure of the southbound carriageway was enforced whilst an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team came to assess the device. It was soon declared safe to remove and the road re-opened.
