A controlled explosion was undertaken after an unexploded shell was found washed up on Brighton Beach. The exact type of shell is not recorded, although is thought to have dated from World War Two (WWII).
After a member of the public alerted the Police to the shell, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called in. They made the shell safe in situ.
