A controlled explosion was carried out after an unexploded shell was found during construction works on a proposed school development in North Ayrshire.
Police put in place a security cordon around the site after the shock find, whilst an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was mobilised.
The EOD team took the shell to a nearby beach for safe destruction.
