Unexploded World War Two Shell Found in Stechford

A security cordon was put in place after an unexploded shell dating from World War Two (WWII) was found by excavators at Stechford Retail Park off Flaxley Road in Birmingham.

Police created a 100m exclusion zone prior to an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attending to assess the device.

The EOD team decided to remove the device to a farmer’s field at Coleshill, where they undertook a controlled explosion.
