On the 19th July, emergency services in Dumfries and Galloway were alerted to reports of an item of unexploded ordnance being discovered on the beach at Powfoot, on the Solway Firth.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) attended the scene and the device was identified as a WWII-era red phosphorous smoke mortar round. It was destroyed in a controlled explosion.

On the 25th July, Cemaes Bay Coastguard Search and Rescue were called to reports of an ‘unexploded shell’ being discovered on the beach at Ynys Y Fydlyn, on the northern side of Anglesey.
An EOD team attended the scene and the device was destroyed in a controlled explosion. The exact nature of the device has yet to be confirmed.

On Tuesday 30th July, Warwickshire Police were called to reports of a suspected grenade being recovered by an angler from the River Leam near Willes Road in Leamington.
An EOD team attended the scene and the device was removed to a nearby field for safe disposal.
No further details have been released.
