Weymouth Resident Inadvertently Throws UXO to Dog After Back Garden Find

There was a rather alarming weekend for a Weymouth resident after they discovered that the interesting item they had dug up in their back garden and thrown to their dog to play with was actually an unexploded shell.

The shell was found at a depth of approximately 10 inches in the garden in the Dorset town. After requesting clarity on what the item might be, the resident was informed that it was potentially hazardous and called the Police. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was duly mobilised and they identified the shell as being live.

Finally, the device was taken to the local beach where it was destroyed in a controlled explosion.
