Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) found on Friday at a building site in East Cowes, Isle of Wight was identified as a pre-WWI era shell. The item was removed by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team and taken to Yaverland Beach where it was destroyed in a controlled explosion.
The reputed 14″ item was discovered adjacent to a fuel depot and prompted the cordoning off of several nearby roads.
